Mother’s day is fast approaching and as a mother I’m always curious as to how well my kids (or my husband) know me when it comes to buying me a Mother’s Day gift. Previous Mother’s Days have seen me receive books, chocolate and vouchers. All of which I love. But I am a planner and stationery nerd at heart, so I would love anything planner or stationery related. If it is something that I can use in my bullet journal then it will be the perfect gift!
However, for those who don’t understand the stationery addiction, buying anything along these lines could see you receiving a 10 pack of blue Bic pens and a pretty diary from the local book shop. No thank you!
How can you tell if you have a planner or stationery nerd for a Mother?
- She has half a dozen unused notebooks but is always talking about the next one she’s going to buy
- You can never borrow her pen, she keeps a standard biro ready for anyone who needs to borrow a pen
- She carries a pencil case in her handbag
- She loves sets – seTS, of pens, markers, notebooks. If it comes in a set, she’ll probably love it
- She tries to steal your stickers
- She has drawers full of washi tape, yet never seem to use it except to stick your artwork to the walls
- She can’t ever walk past a stationery shop or book shop without “ducking in to have a quick look”
- She grumbles about spending $30 on a plain white tee but will gladly spend $7 on a brush pen
So now that you’ve identified her, what do you buy for her? One gift you could get for her is a lovely quote, which you can print and frame for her. Find out how you can get this downloadable print for half price at the end of this article.
Or you can get her something from the list below. I’ve made this easier for you by categorising the gifts into price brackets!

Not sure if stationery is quite her thing?
If you still aren’t convinced on these stationery items as a gift for your mother, how about a hand-lettered quote?
I’ve personally hand-lettered this quote “First My Mother Forever My Friend”. You can find it over on my Etsy shop and this also comes under the $10 budget! Just use coupon code LOVEMUM for a 50% discount off the full price of $5.90, making this printable only $2.95!!
All you have to do is print it on high quality paper or cardstock at the best print setting your printer has and pop it into a frame.
