As the end of the month nears you start seeing beautiful bullet journal monthly welcome pages pop up all over social media. Some of these range from super simple to the most elaborate works of art. I love seeing all the creativity and talent out there in the bullet journal community.
Even though monthly welcome pages are not necessary when it comes to bullet journaling, these have become more and more popular over time. Welcome pages provide a way for you to section out your bullet journal into months (no shit?!), and they also serve as an outlet for creativity. A monthly welcome page can be created with as many or as few tools as you want and can set the theme for your month (see more about themes here). Below I’ve pulled together some examples of amazing monthly welcome pages you can try for yourself.
Skill Level: Beginner
The simplest of welcome pages. If you can create a square, add some lettering, you can create this welcome page. It is super minimalist and eye-catching. If you’re short for time, this is the one to try.
Skill Level: Beginner
Draw a shape, any shape, add some lines and colour in. Pop in some fancy lettering and you have a highly effective and beautiful welcome page. Bonus points for making your shape symmetrical.
Skill Level: Beginner
This looks like an expert level welcome page, any beautiful florals will do that, but in reality, this was created with stamps! You can check out Holly’s account for more examples and purchase her stamps here.
Skill Level: Beginner
Negative space can also make your pages look highly effective. For example, draw a small calendar in the middle of your page, then decorate it but leave lots of negative space.

Don’t have any drawing skills? Then washi tape is your friend. Select your favourite washi tape, stick it down nicely and add some fancy lettering. To make the page look really put together, match your lettering colours to your washi tape.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Another welcome page involving washi tape and also fairly easy is one I created myself. Get yourself some thin washi tape, any colour, it doesn’t matter and stick it down to form geometrical shapes. Next grab your favourite paints or watercolours and fill in the shapes created by the washi tape. Once it’s dry, slowly remove the tape. Simple!

The circular wreath is incredible effective and easy to do. As long as you can draw a perfect circle either with a compass or a circle maker you can accomplish this. Where the real skill comes in is in how you decorate it, with simple flowers and leaves or elaborate florals.
Skill Level: Intermediate
This monthly page, although not technically a welcome page is also super effective. You could create this with just a compass or circle maker, but the tricky part comes when you try to section off the circle. This can be made so much easier by using a stencil which you can purchase from OopsaDaisyUK! Go check out the shop, there are so many other stencils you can choose from.
Skill Level: Intermediate
The floral box is one of my favourite welcome pages. Draw a box, letter the month inside it and then surround the box with floral drawings. Get creative and draw the box vertically like this example!
Skill Level: Expert
Thank goodness a picture is worth a thousand words because I have no words for this. The artwork is amazing and you have to have some serious talent and skill to pull this one off. Check out Isabel’s account for even more amazing work.
Another example from a highly skilled artist bujoer:
What if you have no skills at all?
If even the simplest of these examples is too much for you to try, then there is still one welcome page that you can try and achieve….
Skill Level: Noob
Buy a sticker, or a printable and stick it in. No further work necessary. You can find a huge range of beautiful stickers and printables at Etsy.com. I even offer FREE printables if you subscribe to my blog, you can subscribe below, or you can purchase the below monthly kit including a sticker for your welcome page from my Etsy shop.
