Animal Crossing has taken the world by storm. Ok so maybe not the world, but definitely my world, and Elijah Woods’ world!
If you’re like me and have been playing Animal Crossing New Horizons since the day it was released, then you will need to include these bullet journal spreads in your bullet journal.
These will keep your little Animal Crossing island / fantasy world organised and ticking like clockwork.
What is Animal Crossing?
Ok, so I’m just assuming everyone knows what Animal Crossing is. But if you don’t, it’s new game released at the end of March 2020 by Nintendo to be played on the Nintendo Switch.
It’s a life simulation game that plays in real time. You have your own island which you name. You have to recruit residents to come live on your island with you. You spend your time fishing and catching bugs, chopping trees, collecting items to decorate your home and your island. You sell everything you gathered to earn bells and then you can use your bells to go shopping! You can go online and visit other people’s islands. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s hella addictive.
In a time when the majority of the world is in lockdown or social distancing, Animal Crossing has come at the perfect time!
Animal Crossing Theme
For May, I decided that Animal Crossing would be my theme for the month. I included a couple of my usual monthly spreads, plus added some specific Animal Crossing related spreads which you can see below. Instead of drawing and illustrating this month, I created some stickers to decorate my pages and focused my time on the headings which I found very therapeutic to create.

Animal Crossing Bullet Journal Spreads
If you’re into the game, you’ll now all about breeding flowers, dealing in turnips, donating fish and insects and your bullet journal is perfect for keeping all these Animal Crossing activities organised. Here are some examples that I used in my own bullet journal:
Friends List
I have a small group of friends who also play Animal Crossing. Our characters can visit each other’s islands. One of the best Bell-making features of this is selling your native fruit on another persons island – you get paid more bells from selling non-native fruit. So it’s great to keep track of what your friends native fruit are.
Daily Chores / Task List
If you want to maximise all the rewards you can get from playing Animal Crossing, then there are things you do on your island everyday. I created a Daily Chores/Task List which I’ve titled Morning Chores. I find this super useful as I always then to forget something, especially watering my flowers.
This is what is on my list and why:
- check mail – sometimes you get gifts from residents, friends or other characters
- hit rocks – to get maximum resources such as bells, clay and nuggets
- dig fossils – to donate to the museum or sell for bells
- collect shells – to sell for bells or for crafting
- shake trees – to catch wasps, find bells and furniture
- collect fruit – to sell for bells
- check turnip prices – to make a decision on whether or not to sell turnips
- check hot item – so that you can craft and sell for bells
- log on to the Nook stop – to get Nook miles
- go shopping at Nook’s Cranny – for new furniture
- go shopping at the Able Sisters – because shopping is fun!
- talk to residents – to get gifts and DIYs
- find message bottle – to get DIY
- water flowers – to breed and grow new flowers
Stalk Market – Turnip Prices
Between 5am and 12pm on Sunday mornings you can by turnips from Daisy-Mae for anywhere between 90-120 bells. You can then sell these turnips during the rest of the week at Nook’s Cranny, hopefully for a profit. Just like the stock market in real life, the Stalk Market prices also fluctuate every day, twice a day. It’s useful to note these down to analyse the patterns and then use a website like Turnip.Propet to help you predict when you should sell your turnips to make the most profit.
I’ve created a spread in my bullet journal just to record turnip prices:
Flower Breeding
Every island on Animal Crossing comes with a native flower, either cosmos, windflowers, hyacinths, tulips, roses or mums. They also appear in standard colours. But if you plant certain colours together and water them religiously, they will pollinate and breed new flowers. Sometimes the same colour as the parent flowers but occasionally in brand new colours. I like to keep a record of this with my new Flower Breeding Spread:
The coloured dots represent the flowers that I have planted. When new plants appear I will draw little black circles and colour these the appropriate colour to show what flowers were breed.
